IDEAS FOR CHEAP WEDDING DECORATIONS

We all fantasize about our wedding and wedding decorations. When reality strikes along with the big looming cost of the whole affair, everyone has to find ways to save in a couple of different areas. And, you're in luck because cheap wedding ideas for seasonal weddings are easy to come by and it's probably easiest to. The goal should be to make it not seem “cheep”, but planned.

Half of the fun of getting married is in planning the wedding. Everything is important, from dress to the limo. Almost all the couples love it as great as possible without worrying about money. But how a budget wedding can be planned with all the glitz and glamour, if money is to be considered? An inexpensive, but still stylish decoration can make it possible.

Actually, decorating for the wedding doesn’t have to cut your pocket. An extra creativity and imagination is all that’s needed to have a cost effective wedding. Wedding decoration has to be planned once date of wedding, location has been finalized.

Now the budget of the wedding decoration depends upon the selection of your wedding location. You may prefer to have casual decoration if the plan is to have the wedding reception at the backyard of your house. But if you going for a rented banquet hall, then the choice may be decorate it little more formally. Whatever way it may be, the decoration can be made cheep as much as you desire.

Seasonal Cake

Regardless of the season you wed there are two simple ways to save on your cake. Despite what many people think, this isn't such a difficult endeavor if you're planning a cheap simple wedding.

Here are two great ideas:
• Serve cupcake wedding cakes instead of a traditional cake. They're trendy and delicious! Flavors of the season, like carrot for fall, is one great way to give it a seasonal edge. The other, more obvious, is the color of icing on your cupcakes.
• Purchase a simple white or brown cake. Then, get a few really remarkable flowers of the season - that also can match your theme - and adorn your cake. You can save a lot by doing this yourself and it's a cinch!

Flowers

You don’t need to go to a florist for beautiful floral decorations. If you can plan ahead far enough ahead of time, you can plant seasonal bulbs or other flowers on your own property. Just before the big event, the flowers can be dug up and transplanted into small flower pots. If this seems like too much work, you can also go to your local nursery or home improvement emporium and purchase pots of tulips or flats of annuals. These plants can all be separated and planted in small individual containers. (Cheap flower pots, baskets or other items that can double as planters can be found at the dollar store, the nursery or the florist – the florist may even have discarded flower pots that are just going to end up in the trash anyway.).

Decorate your pots by spray painting them in gold, silver, or metallic colors matching your wedding theme, or wrap them in foil paper and adorn them with ribbon. Not only can several of the decorated pots be grouped together in the middle of the table for a centerpiece, but the individual flower pots can be used as cheap wedding favors and taken home by the guests! Larger pots of flowers can be placed up and down the aisles, at the altar, on the bridal table and at the parent’s tables.

The best way to save on flowers for your seasonal wedding is to use flowers of the season.

• Use lots and lots of flowers of the season.
• If you're getting married in winter use daisies or some of the other cheaper flowers.
• If you love a flower that isn't in season, use it as an accent.

Flowers of the season are always less expensive that those that are out of season or exotic. This method is one of the simplest cheap wedding ideas to implement for your seasonal wedding.

Candles

The other option, which doesn't necessarily apply to just seasonal weddings, is to use candles.

Candles can be used much in the same manner as the flower pots and make great cheap wedding decorations. Inexpensive candles of all shapes and sizes can be found at the home decorating store, discount mart and even the dollar store. Decorate them with ribbon, lace or baby’s breath. Grouped together and lit, candles make an elegant and attractive centerpiece. Place the candles on a mirror for an even more glamorous display.

Add a seasonal touch to your candle display with:
• Sand for summer
• Rocks for spring/summer/fall
• Leaves for fall
• Water for summer
• Fake ice or snow for winter
• Glass pebbles for winter

As you can see, you’re only limited by your imagination. Decorating for a wedding doesn’t have to be costly to look beautiful. Don’t let your budget get you down, decorate with candles and flowers! No one will ever have to know how much you spent.

While some of these ideas are decent, the area concerning flowers may be a serious pitfall to brides considering this option. It is one thing if you are, indeed, using your parents' back yard, but if you are going all out for a catering hall, flowers planted as such with the rustic feel that this will put off is going to limit how "formal" you'd like your event to be. It has a tendency to look like you tried and missed. This also won't be your cheapest bet. You still have to do all the work and will need to purchase a good amount of flowers to prevent it appearing as though you tried and missed. You may also want to be careful in suggesting you place these pots down the aisle and near or on the altar. With the open dirt, you may find many churches hesitant to allow you to decorate in this way. It's one thing to be thrifty, but your time and effort is worth something, too. Florists can offer less expensive varieties that may match your cost in bedding plants and make it far more worth your while than spending time two or three nights before your wedding day elbow deep in soil.

  1. I totally agree with what you said that wedding decors need not be that expensive. I am also planning to have my friends help out in making wind spinner, and flowers made out of paper and other local materials. That would be nice.

I like you idea about fake ice for winter weddings.
